Past Events
Netnocon2026
İzmir, Türkiye, welcomed Netnocon 2026 from June 17–19, bringing the global netnography community together around the theme “Cultural Crossroads.” Marking 30 years since netnography was first introduced, the conference explored how cultures, identities, technologies, platforms, and everyday digital practices intersect. In a city shaped by histories and exchanges, Netnocon 2026 celebrated collaboration, curiosity, and the evolving future of netnographic research across disciplines and geographies.
Netnocon2025
Marseille, France hosted Netnocon 2025 from May 28-30, a global conference for netnography researchers. The theme, “Let’s Get Creative!”, marked the 10th anniversary of Robert V. Kozinets’ influential book, “Netnography: Redefined.” The event encouraged the integration of artistic expression with scientific inquiry. It invited presentations that creatively explored the intersections of art, popular culture, and technology in our digital worlds, continuing the tradition of fostering a global netnography community.
Netnocon2024
Channeling Leonardo da Vinci’s spirit, Netnocon 2024 propelled netnographers to explore the digital frontiers where science and culture converge, shaping a vision for our collective future. This forward-thinking conference paid homage to past, present, and future futurists while maintaining a sustainable and ethical footprint. Recognizing the rising stars of the field, Netnocon 2024 fostered dialogue amidst the rapid evolution of technology and research.
The conference took place at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan. It was chaired by Professor Robert V. Kozinets and co-chaired by Professors Ulrike Gretzel, Rossella Gambetti, Aleksej Heinze, Silvia Biraghi, and Angela A. Beccanulli.
Netnocon2023
The goal of NETNOCON23 was to build bridges and supportive connections among the global community of netnographers. Although devoted to netnography, NETNOCON23 was open to significant contributions from all ethnographers studying social media or immersive technology, regardless of methodological inclination.
The inaugual Conference was held in Manchester at the University of Salford UK and was co-chaired by: Robert V. Kozinets, Ulrike Gretzel, Alex Fenton, Cristina Vasilica and Rossella Gambetti.
